Hey we just updated EGT Worlds.com

Hey everyone, its another productive day here at EGTworlds.com. Today we just released some awsome user tweaks that should make using EGT Worlds easier and more exciting. We also finished and released the ability to advertise on EGT Worlds for $15.

User Tweaks

We had to take a look at our pages agian, we think that many registered users register and hate the bombardment of "Please Register" ads we placed through out the site. So we did you a big favor and removed them. All registered users will no longer see the well placed requests for users to register. I know it was kind of obvious.

We had to tweak the system again, their was many little things we had to fix to make EGT Worlds more proffesional and understandable. The first thing we did was change the "User Profile" page from saying "Website Profile" to "User Profile." Another, "I wish I could blame some one else for my point-blank obvious mistake." I had to add a few tweaks to the Rating System, because it was never truly tested beyond more than one rating. So we fixed it, instead of showing no stars when more than one user rates a website or profile it shows the right amount of stars. Yes, this one is a bit difficult to describe, and you may have ignored it. We renamed the "My Account" links so their is less confusion.

Advertising on EGT Worlds

The other day I was told by some of our users that the website ads don't look like they are part of the site so we ignore them. That's not could, especially when EGT Worlds needs to make money from advertisments.

To fix that problem we added some "Core" objects which will let our users add a "AdSpace." We really didn't want to call it buying an advertisment because most advertisment buyers would want their own formatting and style, but we want these advertisments to match the rest of our website. So we call the advertisments "AdSpace(s)."

You may or may not have noticed that when you logged in and went to your account page that there was this new section called "My AdSpace," in that section if you buy an AdSpace it will display the name of the add, the expiration date, the amount of hits (or amount of clicks) the specific advertisment has, and the invoice number. Its really very simple when you look at it, here is a image:

As you can see its very simple and easy to use. The hyperlink on the name lets you go to the url of the advertisment. We couldn't let you edit your advertisment because other users may look for that advertisment again. If you made a drastic problem, or a spelling error and we don't catch you can always e-mail us. We are here for you.

To add a advertisement, you just have to click on any one of the advertisments offering you the link or go to the advertisment page on top.

When you get to the scren like the image above you just need to enter the Heading, Body, and Link as it will appear in the "AdSpace." You will be able to preview and subscibe on the next page. 

After you subscribe you can only cancel the subscription from your PayPal account, how sad is that. If you want to stop certian advertisments because they have less clicks, you going to need to know the title and the invoice number. We stuck a little "Unsubscribe" link so you can go to the PayPal subscribtion page quickly.

Hope these changes are good, we'll see how far they go!

We just added a whole new feature: EGT World's Forumz!

Ok, you all may not be excited as we are, but this is a great plus for our Social Network! We've added a lot of functionality and we plan on adding a whole lot more to these Forumz. First, just know that this is based off of an awesome open source project called Vanilla Forums from Lussumo, an open source software company. You can visit the home of Lussumo at this website: http://lussumo.com

Here is a nice picture of what the new Forumz look like, you can get to the new forumz by clicking on the new "Forum" link in the main navigation bar. (It's right next to our logo.)

It is very easy to add a discussion or comment, you just click the option "Start Discussion" to start a brand new discussion or scroll down at the bottom of a discussion to comment. There is a nice little "Bottom of Page" link you can use to skip all the comments.

You can add any text formatting you wish and what not. Although we do ask that you be a bit skimpy on the images. We don't want to parade over our users bandwidth.

In order to comment or discuss on the EGT Worlds Forumz, you must have a profile set-up or the forumz don't work. Sorry that is just the nature of keeping our discussions spam free. Thanks!

Hey, we just added a whole lot of enhancements!

We know not to many people have joined the EGT World Forumz discussion and that its just a day old, but we just can't contain ourselfs and we add new stuff every day. So here is some of our newest stuff we just added to the EGT World Forumz.

We just added some cool features to help the community out. We added the ability to report any spam comments and comments that may be against our Terms of Use. We also added the ability to thank each user for a great post. This will help users and get rid of clutter, because instead of a user posting a "Thanks" or "That helped" comments the user just clicks the thanks button.

We also added some great features to the Forumz Profile. We added the ability to see a users "Thnakyou's" Score, so you can find out how helpful this person is. You can also send a "Personal Message," its not a full and complete PM system each PM is visible only to the user it was sent to and the user that sent it in the category "Your Personal Messages." Its kinda neat how that work.

We also added a slew of under the covers stuff to make the system more usable. We added a guest message to encourage guests to get an account or log in, we added a yellow flash to comments you just posted (so you know where that comment ended up), and we fixed tons of minor bugs.

We have made EGT World's easier to use!

Because many people that use EGT World's have expressed some concern that our system may not be the easiest to navigate. So we broke the navigation into 3 sections. The Main navigation, the search navigation, and the forumz navigation. NOTE: To go back to the main naviagtion click on the home link in the footer or in the navigation strip.

We just added some exciting new social features!

I had one of the most peculiar problems, unlike most social network websites, I could not find any users unless they commented and rated other websites. So I personally created some awesome enhancements to the EGT World's website, it looks more pumped and ready for social networking.

As you can tell from the above picture, all new users are visible to the community right from the homepage. This will allow other people to click on their profile and see who they are and what comments they left on other sites.

I also added some cool features like the ability to see a random website (random world), a random users avatar (click to view profile), and a random comment. This awsome social feature will allow other users to check out new websites, or site they have not seen, and see what the community says about them. This could help users find awsome sites they did not even know exsited.

I hope theese improvement help EGT Worlds grow into another great social network.
